Gutter Refurbishment, Asbestos Removal, Commercial Roofing / Cladding and Industrial Roof Lights
Safe asbestos roof removal and installation of a new 130mm composite roofing system, complete with replacement rooflights and upgraded roof details.
We delivered a full commercial roof refurbishment for SRS Aromatics Ltd, replacing the existing asbestos roof with a modern composite roofing system designed for long-term performance.
The project brought together asbestos roof removal, roof replacement and improvements to natural daylight and rainwater management. Completed to the required specification, the refurbishment has given the building a safer, more energy-efficient roof and a refreshed appearance.
| Project detail | Scope |
|---|---|
| Client | SRS Aromatics Ltd |
| Project type | Commercial roof refurbishment |
| Existing roof | Asbestos roofing |
| New roof | 130mm composite roofing system |
| Additional works | Replacement rooflights and upgrades to flashings, gutters and parapets |
The brief was to refurbish the existing roof and provide a replacement system suited to the building’s long-term needs. Safe removal of the asbestos roofing was a key part of the project, followed by the installation of a new 130mm composite roofing system.
The refurbishment also extended beyond the main roof covering. Rooflights, flashings, gutters and parapets were included in the scope, ensuring these important elements were addressed as part of the overall roof upgrade.
Together, the works focused on improving the building’s safety, energy efficiency, natural daylight and protection from the weather.
The first stage involved safely removing the existing asbestos roof to prepare the building for its replacement.
Removing the old roof allowed us to deliver a full refurbishment, with the new roofing system and associated details installed as part of one coordinated project. For the client, this marked an important step in upgrading the building and replacing its asbestos roof with a modern alternative.
Following removal of the existing roofing, we installed a new 130mm composite roofing system to the required project specification.
Composite roof panels combine an external weathering surface with an insulated core. The new system was selected as part of the refurbishment to improve the roof’s thermal performance while providing durable protection from the elements.
The installation also transformed the appearance of the roof, giving the building a clean, consistent finish. Alongside the other improvements, it provides a roofing system designed to support the property’s long-term performance.
As part of the commercial roof replacement, we replaced the existing rooflights to increase the amount of natural daylight entering the building.
Rooflights are an important part of the overall roof design, helping bring daylight into internal areas that may receive limited light from windows. Improving natural light can reduce reliance on artificial lighting during daylight hours and contribute to a brighter internal environment.
For this project, the new rooflights supported the wider aim of creating a more energy-efficient building while complementing the replacement roofing system.
A complete roof refurbishment requires attention to the details around the main roof covering. Alongside the composite roof installation, we upgraded the flashings, gutters and parapets.
Each plays an important role in the performance of the finished roof:
Flashings help protect junctions and transitions against water ingress.
Gutters collect and carry rainwater away from the roof.
Parapet details help protect exposed roof edges and their connections with the surrounding structure.
Including these elements in the refurbishment ensured the project addressed both the main roof area and the surrounding details that support effective weather protection and drainage.
Preparing the building for a future solar panel installation was another important consideration in the refurbishment. Replacing the existing asbestos roof with the new 130mm composite roofing system formed part of that preparation, bringing the roof upgrade into the building’s longer-term energy plans.
Alongside the improvements to insulation and natural daylight, this gives the client a foundation for further energy-efficiency measures. Any future solar installation would require its own assessment of structural capacity, panel layout and suitable fixings for the roofing system.
The completed project has given SRS Aromatics Ltd a modern roofing system designed for long-term performance, with every aspect of the work delivered to the required specification.
The refurbishment delivered:
Safe removal of the existing asbestos roof.
A new insulated 130mm composite roofing system.
Increased natural daylight through replacement rooflights.
Upgraded flashings, gutters and parapets.
A refreshed roof appearance and improved overall building performance.
By bringing the roof covering, rooflights and associated details together within a full refurbishment, we delivered a comprehensive upgrade that supports the building’s continued use.
